Frequently Asked Questions About
The Way of Life in Partnership With Oral Roberts University

Location of the facility?

The Way of Life Spiritual Development Center is located at 2930 W. Broad Street, Suite 49, Richmond, VA 23230. (Actually the building faces Altamont Street behind Stuffy's across the street from Merchant's Tires).

Meeting time for classes?

One class meets for 9 weeks on Monday evening from 6:00-10:00 p.m. A different class meets for 9 weeks on Thursday evening from 6:00-10:00 p.m.

Who should enroll?

Anyone who is interested in learning more about the Bible and Christian education should enroll. Courses are taught in a simplified and practical manner for all Christians. They are ideal for those in ministry who have had little or no formal training.

Are the courses credited?

All courses are considered diploma credit and may be accepted at other colleges and universities.

What programs are offered?

Two programs are offered: Advanced Certificate of Theology for the completion of 11 classes and one practicum; Diploma of Theological Studies for the completion of 22 classes and 3 practicums.

What is the duration of the courses?

All courses are nine (9) weeks long for a total of 37.5 clock hours. Classes meet from 6:00-10:00 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays. The Advanced Certificate program takes a year to complete; the Diploma program takes two and a half years to complete.

What fees are involved?

A one-time non-refundable $35 application fee is required. Each 3 credit course is $215. Textbooks and study guides vary with each course. An audit fee is $150 for each course. Students who can't pay the full amount may audit classes at the lower rate and change to credit when full amount is paid. (Contact Director for more information).

When are the fees paid?

Some semesters have 1, 2, or 3 courses. All fees are due at the beginning of the semester for each course in that semester.

Do I have to take all courses?

It is highly recommended that students take the courses when they are offered. If a required course is missed, students will have to wait until the next cycle to take that required course.

What is the format or structure of the classes?

Each class begins with a brief devotion (prayer, scripture, song). The class is structured to include lectures, discussion, tests and a final examination. Some classes require outside projects. All courses are designed with the working adult in mind; therefore, homework is minimized. Moderate reading assignments are required.

What is the procedure if I have to miss a class?

While the maximum benefit is obtained when students attend all classes, emergencies do happen. If that is the case, notify your instructor as soon as possible. Instructor and classmates will help you with missed assignments.

I want to learn more about the Bible and Christianity, but I am not seeking a certificate or diploma.

Courses may be taken for self-improvement, spiritual growth and enrichment. You may take only those courses you are interested in. In that case, your fee is only $155 per course.

I am still not sure.

Seek God's guidance. Be obedient to what you hear. Training and preparation are required to follow Christ.
